The turbocharger that we usually refer to is actually an air compressor that increases the intake air volume of the engine by compressing air. Generally, the turbocharger uses the inertial force of the exhaust gas from the engine to push the turbine in the turbine chamber. The turbine in turn drives the coaxial impeller, which presses the air sent by the air cleaner pipe to pressurize it into the cylinder. When the engine speed increases, the exhaust gas discharge speed and the turbine speed also increase synchronously. The impeller compresses more air into the cylinder. The increase in air pressure and density can burn more fuel, correspondingly increase the fuel amount and adjust the engine. With the speed, you can increase the output of the engine.
You may think that the turbocharger is very complicated, but it is not complicated. The turbocharger is mainly composed of a turbine chamber and a supercharger. First, the intake of the turbocharger actuator is connected to the engine exhaust manifold, and the exhaust port is connected to the exhaust pipe. Then, the inlet of the supercharger is connected to the air cleaner pipe, the exhaust port is connected to the intake manifold, and finally the turbine and the impeller are respectively installed in the turbine chamber and the supercharger, and the two are coaxially rigidly coupled. Such an overall turbocharger is ready, and your engine is "overclocked" like a computer CPU.
Common turbochargers can be divided into four types: supercharged systems, airwave boosters, exhaust turbochargers, and composite boosters. One way is to build a bigger engine. But large engines are not always as good as they are. The bigger the engine, the heavier the weight and the higher the manufacturing and maintenance costs.
